July 11 and 12, 26 A two-day sound retreat with Mike Tamburo & Jochen Fassbender

Together, we will create sound processes freely, guided by imagination and feeling. We wikl listen deeply to the music that wants to emerge. What happens within sound — even in the most subtle changes, in the reverberation, and in the silence that follows? What relationship can sound have to nature and to the place in which it is heard?

At our disposal is a wonderful selection of gongs, along with Fassbender’s innovative, overtone-rich sound objects made of stone, glass, and various metals.

Through guided and spontaneous explorations of these instruments, we immerse ourselves in ever-changing worlds of sound. A range of playing techniques will be introduced, diverse textures explored, and new possibilities for resonance discovered.

This retreat is not about perfect musical results or mastery. The focus rests on listening itself. How does sound unfold? How does it fill space, and what perceptions does it evoke? We aim to experience the music with presence, to connect deeply with it, and to discover what becomes possible as our senses grow more refined.
